Question 1

Is We Will See suitable for a funeral?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It is a song of quiet, Scripture-rooted hope: love, joy and peace are only partly known here, but fulfilled when we see the Lord. It works well as a ministry song after a eulogy or a reading on heaven.

Question 2

What is the song about?

Accepted Answer

The biblical gifts of love, joy and peace, which we taste in wonderful foretastes here on earth but which are only fully realised when we are reunited with the Lord. It draws on C.S. Lewis’s idea of “Joy” as a longing that points to God.

Question 3

Can a congregation sing We Will See?

Accepted Answer

It works best as a ministry or reflective piece sung by a soloist or small group, with the congregation joining the closing “We will see when we go to our Lord” lines.

Question 4

What key and time signature is it in?

Accepted Answer

It is a 3/4 Irish lament in A minor at about 91 bpm. The free Worship Leader Pack includes the MP3, lead sheet and ad-free lyric video.
